JOB SUMMARY

The Electrical Technician is responsible for following daily work assignments to meet GMP standards while following all company safety policies and general policies. The Electrical Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing all electrical components in the facility and on the equipment. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all PLC components and performing programming as needed. Coordinating work with outside electrical contractors and utilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform daily work assignments as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Department Manager.
  • Respond to pages for electrical support.
  • Work on projects (line-equipment re-location, installations, & upgrades).
  • Completing work orders for electrical related issues and logging all activities in logbooks when required.
  • Developing electrical aspects of all project work as needed, working with supervision and management from other departments as the need to address electrical concerns in their areas.
  • Look for and report potential safety issues.
  • Look for and recommend changes for improvement.
  • Attend and comprehend monthly safety training.
  • Perform assigned Monthly Safety Inspections.
  • Overseeing work methods, quality, and work progress of outside electrical and PLC engineering companies.
  • Traveling to attend Machine design reviews, Field Acceptance Test, and travel to vendors using Gust Packaging supplied/owned equipment to provide electrical/PLC support.
  • Prioritizing daily work assignment to ensure completion in an effective and timely manner
  • Work to use company supplies, equipment, and materials in an economical manner
  • Update all electrical documentation after changes are implemented
  • Recommend improvements in methods, material, and safety
  • Recommend equipment and machinery that can contribute to projects or upgrade

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), or trade school, completion of PLC training

Experience

  • 5 Years of Electrical and PLC experience, preferable with some maintenance experience too.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate hand and power tools.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position will require travel.
  • Typically overnight travel and specifically pertains to company events, Off-Site Machine Testing, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs.
  • May be required to utilize personal vehicles for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require overtime and weekend work depending on business needs.
  • This position is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, heights and outside weather conditions.
  • Exposed to outdoor environmental weather conditions year-round.
